This is one of the post cards for the show. I woke up at 3:30 thinking of stuff I need to do, uck. I set up on Tue. I have 40 pc's I'm not sure if I will use all of them. I did my photo's yesterday. I hate it when I let something go and I forget to do a photo. I learn from them, it is like getting a fresh look at the work. Some times we forget how much time go's into getting ready for a show, doing the paper work, photo's, set up, travel, wrapping, etc. It is really all worth it.

Getting Ready For A Show

I was at a friends opening , she works in clay. She had a figure done of a crazy woman with wild hair. It was titled "Getting Ready For A Show". I could totally relate. That is the mode I'm in right now. It doesn't matter how much preparation you do it seems like there are always last minute things you want to get done. WHEW------------- New ideas, the creative juice is really running now. I hate any time I have to spend away from it. But life is not that simple or focused. We do need to eat and sleep.

The Last 4 days have been very exciting. Birthday Party with the girls, Sailing and Art ,WOW. Sat and Sunday was a racing regatta, to end the season.
This is the crew of Go Fish At the Commodores Cup

Here we are heading out for a day of racing

This is water coming over the rail when the wind was up.
We had sunshine and wind what more could you ask on a beautiful fall day. The end of a sailing season is always hard. There is so much to do at home to get ready for winter snow, but how can you turn down a week-end like this.
Monday Karen Landey came from Portland to do a interview with me in my studio.
Karen produces the DVD Magazine INDIE ARTS
These are some of the art dolls I've made and will be in the interview.
This was very exciting for me and I'm sure I talked way to fast. This issue should be out in the spring sometime.
Now back to normal family stuff, making Halloween Masks

It has been a good week in the shop, I have trouble sometimes calling it a studio. It is a work shop. I use a lot of tools and get dirty.
Fall colors have been really beautiful this year.
Maybe as I age I learn to look more and appreciate the changes more.
These two are for my upcoming show. They are encaustic.
This is my husband and I on our boat getting ready for a race last week-end. As you can see it was cold and rainy. I make sure I stay warm. Our boat is small , light and on most days fast. It turned out to be a very poor race with very little wind, you can't race if you don't have wind.
This week-end we are doing a 2 day regatta and it looks like sunshine, now lets have some wind. OH be careful what you ask for. We have been so lucky to race on boats with great crew, it makes life a lot of fun. I love getting out side after being in the shop for days. When you are racing you have to only think about what it takes to make the boat go fast. Check your trim, where is the wind, what is your course. It is like playing chess only on the water. I really enjoy being part of a crew and doing my job on the boat. Everyone is important to the out come, team work and good laughs. The people that are in our club are great sports also. We will have a chili feed afterward and talk all about the races and what we did, right or wrong. Lately I have been the only woman on board. It is different hanging with all guys and doing a intense sport. We used to sail with other women but as life go's they have moved to new adventures.

Well it is almost 5 pm and I've been working since 8 am . This isn't long hours, but I stand on concrete to work so I get tired boo hoo . This isn't like the old days I could work from 5am to 2am and only a few hours sleep. Soda and red hots . I guess the good old days wore me out. ha ha . Anyway I'm working on some new encaustic pieces for a solo show at the Pigeon Hole Gallery Nov 2 . I will have to keep them a surprise but I'm happy with the work. I'm also making a few new small works for the Timberstand Gallery in Sandpoint. This will be for Xmas. I don't want to leave the house all week, just create, and that makes me smile.

This is a work in progress, I like to start out with a simple design then start adding all the fun stuff.
I have 2 showings coming up for next month so I will be working like a crazy women these next few weeks. I love the pressure to produce, I think I'm at my most creative.

Fall is here
I love the fall colors and the brisk air. This is my Rhubarb, I love the big leaves and the gorgeous colors. They are a transplant from my Mom's garden.
This is my set up at the Great Art Adventure. I was showing my upcoming classes and it was great to meet new friends. I love getting out and talking creative interests with everyone. This was a very small show and mainly promoting our local art supply store. People were there who love making art, great energy. My Sis was there on Sunday to help and just hang out. I have ordered more of these panels to hang work from, I love them they are light and look very professional. I need to work on my lighting. The big orange thing in back was on the wall of the building.
This is some happy artist's taking a class in Encaustic's in my studio.
