Fall is in the air

This is part of my back yard. Fall is here and everything is changing. I don't look forward to the snow, but maybe things will slow down just a little.
Every time I do a show I like to do a mock set up to see how things will fit. I used to do ton's of shows so I had my basic set up routine. This show will be a little different so----. I love doing display and some times spend as much time on that as I do producing.
I need to get more work ready to hang. This looks really empty. I will be showing sample for my up coming classes also, lots of PR. I love meeting new people. The hard part about working at home all the time, is never seeing other artist's or people with the same interest. This will be a lot of fun.
This is me and I guess I'm getting ready to do a pole dance or dig dirt in the yard. Cute bating suit.

What a week

This has been a interesting week family came to visit with a new Grand baby, sail race, a bad back and now a bad cold. Both my husband and I are down with it. Oh well, I have to put the finishing touches on for a show I'm in on the 29th - 30th .

I will have some new cards

I will have samples for the classes I'm teaching also, also with lots of paintings , Encaustic works and some Jewelry I hope. I think there will be a few late nights next week. I plan on having some smaller Encaustic pieces. Best go and print up some business cards.

Picking of the Beads, some hard choices. There were Beads made of fabric, clay, glass and of course metal. Everyone had great stories to go with each Bead and details of how they made them.

Bead Exchange

Every year we have a bead-pin exchange in our Jewelers group. Everyone does incredible pieces. This year we need to make 21. We have some very accomplished jewelers in our group so you never know what will show up. I always want to do something off the wall, no silver or soldering.

Step 1 This years it took a while to decide. I have a bunch of stuff around here that I use in my 3-d work so----. This is a old key with a bead and a face
Step 2 Sand and Gesso, so the key will except paint

Step 3 Paint
Step 4 Choose a face, glue to bead, glue bead to key, add finishing paint

Step 5 Apply sealer
My next step will be to add a little cord and a story about the Key.
This is great fun and a good challenge . I will show you what every one came up with tomorrow

The key
Just what is a key, what does it stand for?
The Key to my Heart
The Key to the Mystery
The Key Point
The Keyboard
It is endless as to the use of a Key.
This little key is for a reminder.
A Key to being Creative,
Some have a third eye.
Some have the never ending Spiral of life.
All see into our soul, our heart.
The Heart of a Artist.
Enjoy

Beautiful Sunday Morning In Idaho

We race our J-80 Sail boat "GO FISH" on a lake near our home. The morning air was brisk and cool, it felt wonderful to be out on the water. I think we may have gotten a third. For me racing is a way to breath life into me. You feel mother nature first hand. Racing is one of the best ways to learn to sail and when you are out on the water the whole world and all of it's problems just melt away. Sailing is something you can do when you are either young or old. VERY COOL !

We are home now and I have to get 21 beads made for a bead exchange with our Jewelers Guild tomorrow night. I'm terrible at leaving things to the last minute. I seen to function just fine under pressure (sometimes). We will see, I will post how they turned out.

I also have a show at the end of this month in Spokane. I will be showing what I will be teaching at the Creative Element in

Coeur D'alene Idaho. After that I will have a solo show at the Pigeon Hole Gallery in Spokane. It will be all my more unusual stuff

Because I have just started this blog, every thing looks a little empty compared to others that have been doing at this for years whew!!!! This is a good push to get new work done and listed.

Last night I went to a opening here in Sandpoint at the Timberstand.Gallery. They have a contemporary room, where I have my Encaustic work. The event was to promote contemporary works in the area. It was called Picasso and Friends. We have a lot of trees and flowers around here so it is fun to see new and different styles of work. It was a lot of fun to see old friends and new.
